Laura and I had our first date last night and it was great. Little did I know, but it almost didn't happen. I blew Laura off a few times and it sounds like she was ready to give up on me completely if I pushed our date back one last time.
Ironically, last night would have been my best excuse to cancel our date. But I knew better than to cancel it. I had been at work since midnight, working on the implementation of a major project. Things didn't go so smoothly, so I was in the office well into the afternoon - leaving me with barely enough time to get home and get cleaned up before our date (there was definitely no time for a nap).
We met at Marino's in Sunset Place for dinner. After that we went to campus to watch the Canes basketball team beat FIU. We wound up the night by going to Purdy Lounge on South Beach, where we ended up running into a bunch of people that I know. Laura seemed a little taken back by the experience at first, I think because a few people kept telling her that I was a nice guy. I think she thought that it was some sort of a set up.
The most unusual thing about our date was that it was very cold last night. I talked about how cold I was, but Laura said that the weather didn't bother her. For Miami it was a cold night.
